Restylane Toronto is a soft tissue dermal filler used at SpaMedica for facial contour augmentation, for lip enhancement, to fight the loss of volume as a result of aging and for the correction of wrinkles. Restylane® is another of the hyaluronic sugar gels. Restylane Toronto has a unique cross-linking configuration that makes it different from Juvéderm®. At SpaMedica, Restylane® is optimally deployed, because of its cross-linking configuration and anatomy, for injections under the eyes and bordering the lips.

Are You a Candidate?

Candidates for Restylane® injections are those individuals that have fine lines and wrinkles or some deflation under the eye. Individuals with small or wrinkled upper lips may also benefit from Restylane treatment. A good candidate for Restylane Toronto treatment is realistic about the type of youth, volume and shape that can be achieved with a simple soft tissue filler and often good candidates will undergo combination therapy at SpaMedica with BOTOX Injectable, fractional lasers and colour correction and lasers.

Contraindications to Restylane® injections would be allergic reaction to Restylane® in the past. This is exceedingly rare and usually due to the crosslinking material rather than the Restylane® itself. Other contraindications would be patients who might be pregnant or have areas of inflammation, infection or skin cancer in the area of injection.

Procedure Details

Restylane®, like its cousins Juvéderm® and Perlane®, is deployed by the SpaMedica injection experts using a micro-cannula technique.

Figure 1.  Restylane Toronto. Restylane is a soft tissue filler and dermal filler that is a hyaluronice acid filler. It has a cross linking structure that lends itself well to injection in delicate areas such the under eye region or the white roll on the top of the lip.

How is Restylane® injected?

Restylane® injections are performed with a small, blunt micro-cannula. The micro cannula injection technique has been pioneered by Dr. Mulholland. He has taught physicians and injection experts worldwide on his blunt, micro-cannula Restylane® lift techniques. All injection specialists at SpaMedica are dermatologists or plastic surgeons or highly-trained nurses with many years of dermal filler injection experience. The blunt micro-cannula is introduced under the skin. Most injections are performed along the surface of the bone, when shaping the face, or directly under deep lines and furrows. Restylane®, has lidocaine or local anesthetic already mixed in. Thus, while the injection is proceeding, anesthesia is also being instilled, making the procedure very tolerable.

Figure 2. Restylane Toronto. With its delicate cross linking lends itself well to filling up underneath and smoothening fine lines and wrinkles, as well as deflation under the eyes.

Is the Restylane® injection painful?

The Restylane® products are mixed with xylocaine and local anesthesia. As such, they are very comfortable and tolerable procedures.

How long does the Restylane Toronto procedure take?

The Restylane® injection procedure takes approximately 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the amount of product injected and what areas are injected.

Side Effects

The recovery following a Restylane® injections depends upon the areas injected, the number of injections and amounts of products injected. The patient’s individual recovery prowess and  their age will also be factors in recovery. Individuals who have not been taking aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatories leading up to the procedure generally have minimal swelling. Especially with the blunt, micro-tip cannula technique, as the blunt micro-tip cannula tends not to disrupt small vessels and veins that lead to bruising. Restylane side effects can include a modest degree of swelling. Depending on the number of syringes and areas injected, most patients can return to work the next day. For large-volume injections and Restylane® lift treatments, it is recommended that patients take one or two days off, prior to returning to work.

You can expect excellent results following your Restylane® injections as the SpaMedica injection experts are highly qualified with many years of experience of soft tissue contouring, under eye volume shaping and line and wrinkle management.

Figure 3. Restylane Before and After.  Restylane under eye treatment patient.  The patient who before, had bags under her eyes and hallow deflation. The patient now shows remarkable improvement under her eyes. Restylane, using the microcannula technique, was injected above the brow and the bump on the bridge of the nose. Restylane was combined with Botox Injectable to treat the brow. The final results are that the patient looks far more youthful and natural.

What are patients saying about their Restylane® injections at SpaMedica?

SpaMedica Restylane and soft tissue injection patients are generally very happy. SpaMedica has been injecting soft tissue fillers and dermal fillers for well over 15 years. Most of out injection experts have more than 10 years of experience. Over 85% of all soft tissue filler injection patients return to SpaMedica over and over again. Our patients know they are receiving the artistry and expertise that leaves their face looking natural and attractive. Rather than looking over-injected and thus avoiding the dreaded “filler face”. You can find soft tissue filler and Restylane® injection centres everywhere, but very few, if any, have the overall artistry and expertise of SpaMedica.

How long does Restylane last?

Depending on the product used, the results of Restylane® injection may last 6-9 months. In general, most patients get return for reinjection every 6-9 months to maintain the optimal soft tissue proportion, shape and smoothness.

Soft tissue fillers in general are a temporary thing. As we age, there are enzymes that break down our normal collagen and elastin, as well as the hyaluronic acid sugar gels. Hyaluronidases are natural degradation sugar enzymes inside our bodies and cells that break down the Restylane® product over time. Thus, most patients who enjoy nice post-soft tissue Restylane® contour and shaping, will return between once a year and once every year-and-a-half for volumization and restoration. Highly-animated areas, such as the lips, tend not to last as long as unanimated areas. As such, you may require a Restylane lip treatment every six to nine months.

At SpaMedica, generally the injection procedure is charged by the syringe. Restylane® Voluma™ starts at approximately $599 a syringe. However, the more syringes you inject, the less you pay per syringe and at SpaMedica, as one of the country’s highest-volume injection centres, we’re able to procure excellent pricing from manufacturers. We pass this opportunity onto our valued soft tissue injection and Restylane® clients.
