Patients suffering from wrinkles can be treated with a variety of techniques and procedures at the SpaMedica Toronto Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Centre.
Patients with wrinkled skin suffer from a very common condition, specifically loss of the support foundations of the underlying structures of the skin, resulting in wrinkles. Predisposition to wrinkles can be hereditary in nature and is often made worse by environmental conditions and lifestyle. Factors that contribute to excessively wrinkled skin include sun damage, smoking, weight loss and weight gain, over animated facial muscles and a hereditary thin skin that lacks collagen and elastin and the supportive elements of the skin envelope. Wrinkled skin is most common on the face and usually the most aesthetically distressing in this location, but wrinkled skin can be aesthetically unappealing on the neck, between the breasts, on the elbows, upper arms, inner thighs, and on the abdomen above the belly button.
Fractional lasers use laser beams to disrupt only a proportion of the skin surface resulting in much quicker healing and less symptomatic recovery than older, more ablative resurfacing procedures such as carbon dioxide lasers. Fractional lasers can be fractional erbium lasers, fractional carbon dioxide lasers and “Fraxel” type lasers with microscopic laser beam columns that enter the skin. SpaMedica has all of these types of fractional lasers to give you the best chance of an optimized result. All of these fractional lasers send laser light through the outer layer of the skin and into the underlying wrinkled areas of the skin resulting in new collagen and elastin production leading to a softening and tightening and visible reduction or elimination of the wrinkles.
Dr. Mulholland has been performing Botox Injectable procedure for over 20 years, and has personally evolved highly advanced and specialized techniques used to improve the appearance of wrinkles.
Through the use of gentle radio frequency electrical energy, fat cells and blood vessels are internally coagulated to remove the fat through liquefaction with very minimal compared to excisional procedures.
Fractionated Laser Treatments
High energy lasers are used as a well tolerated treatment to target dark circles under the eyes, with up to 60% improvement in their appearance. Often used in conjunction with the Photofacial, Botox injectable, or soft tissue fillers.
Silk Peel Treatments
SilkPeel goes beyond the effects of traditional microdermabrasion, simultaneously providing exfoliation and the Dermalinfusion topical delivery technology. SilkPeel moisturizes dry and flaky skin and clarifies oily or acne-prone skin, providing a brightening boost and balance to discolored and imbalanced skin.
Soft tissue fillers such as Sculptra, Radiesse, Perlane, Juvederm, Teosyal, and Voluma are used by injecting under the skin to improve the appearance of wrinkles or fine lines and stimulating the body’s natural collagen response.
One of the most trusted gentle, non-invasive skin rejuvenation therapies available today, SpaMedica’s microdermabrasion techniques uses a directed stream of micro-crystals combined with vacuum to rejuvenate the skin.
Depending on the kind of fractional laser and the amount of energy, results of facial wrinkles, chest wrinkles, wrinkles on the back of the hand and other body wrinkles can be improved by 50 – 75%. Enhanced improvements can be achieved with subsequent fractional resurfacing treatments performed every six to eight weeks.
