Red Spots on the Skin | SpaMedica

Red Spots on the Skin

Summary

There are a number of laser red spot removal systems and at SpaMedica we boast the widest array of red spot lasers in Canada, allowing our cosmetic dermatologists to best serve our patients. The most optimal treatment for red spots has evolved into the use of high-tech laser technology to remove unwanted, cosmetically displeasing red spots. Laser red spot removal is accomplished by selecting the appropriate laser and wavelength of energy.

Are You a Candidate?

Those suffering from a genetic predisposition, hormonal conditions with alterations in estrogen or progesterone, such as pregnancy and some oral contraceptives, as well as prolonged sun exposure and photo aging that results in the presence of red spots on the skin.

Procedure Details

The treatment for unwanted red spots starts with a consultation with one of our cosmetic dermatologists or cosmetic plastic surgeons. If you are deemed to be an appropriate patient for laser red spot removal, you can often receive your treatment that day. The laser treatment red spots is usually in the order of 15 to 30 minutes and may be combined with a blending treatment to the face, neck or décolleté called an intense-pulsed light photo facial photo rejuvenation. In this treatment, in addition to treating the unwanted red spots, the entire face or affected neck and chest area is blended in with gentle intense-pulsed light [IPL] for a more generalized improvement in the appearance of the skin.

FotoFacial

The FotoFacial procedure is considered to be one of the latest and biggest advances in the last four years in cosmetic procedures.  This laser works on deeper blood vessels and stimulates collagen to help smooth out wrinkles and improve the appearance of chicken pox scars.

CO2 Lasers

CO2 lasers and SpaMedica fractionated treatments such as Affirm, Smart Skin and SpaMedica’s eMatrix treatment will provide a noticeable degree of improvement, while also addressing other skin issues which may be present such as wrinkles, laxity, scarring, enlarged pores, acne and rosacea.

Fractional Lasers

Fractional laser skin resurfacing is one of the most effective methods for the reduction of scars from chicken pox.

Intense Pulsed Light

The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is used to colour correct the unwanted brown and red discolouration and spider veins, improving the tone of the skin to be lifted.

SonoPeel

The SonoPeel microdermabrasion uses gentle ultrasound waves and energy to micro-abrade and smoothen the surface of your skin.  By reducing the thickness of the top layer of your skin, or the stratum corneum, your skin will not only be smoother, but will also be improved by helping to reduce the appearance of age spots.

Additional Procedures

Other surgical options include deeper laser resurfacing, resulting in more tissue destruction, redness and “down time”. Skin care products will enhance some aspects of your skin but will not be as effective as laser peels for improving wrinkles, scars and pigmentation irregularities.
